HB 290 Notification of arrest of school employees.
Introduced by: David G. Brickley | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Notification of arrest of school employees. Requires law-enforcement officers who arrest a person known or discovered to be a full-time or part-time, permanent, or temporary teacher or employee in any public school division for a felony, a crime of moral turpitude, or any offense involving the sexual molestation, physical or sexual abuse, or rape of a child, to file a report of the arrest with the superintendent of the employing division. The report is then used by the school division solely to implement suspension procedures. The measure also requires applicants for full- or part-time, permanent or temporary employment to certify that they have not been convicted of a felony or a crime of moral turpitude, in addition to the specified offenses against children. Teacher suspension procedures are amended to include the suspension of any teacher or school employee, whether full-time or part-time, permanent, or temporary.
