SUMMARY:
Hate crimes. Adds "sexual orientation" and "gender" to the categories of victims whose selection for a "hate crime" involving assault or trespass amplifies the Class 1 misdemeanor penalty to include a six-month minimum, mandatory sentence, 30 days of which cannot be suspended. The bill also adds the two categories to terroristic act reporting requirements of the State Police, and to availability of specific injunctive relief for acts motivated by hate.
