SUMMARY:
Service of process; return. Clarifies the duty of the person making substitute service to file the return with the court from which the process issued. The return must be filed within seventy-two hours of service, but an extension is provided if the seventy-two hours would expire on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday. Under current law, the return need only be filed promptly. Requirements are added for private process servers to include their name, address, and telephone number in order to faciliate proof of service.
