SUMMARY:
Restrictions on the taking of certain crabs. Establishes a crab sanctuary in the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Rappahannock river from June 1 through September 15. A three and one-half inch size limit on softshell crabs is set. A season on peeler and softshell crabbing of April 1 through September 30 is created. Peeler and softshell crabbing is also prohibited on Sundays from June 16 through September 30. A catch limit on sponge crabs (crabs showing eggs) is set at 45 bushels or 1,800 pounds per day and the taking of sponge crabs by peeler pots and crab traps is prohibited.
