SUMMARY:
Labor and employment; work-training certificates; academic and attendance requirements. Requires children between the ages of 14 and 16 who seek to be employed pursuant to a work-training certificate (which permits employment during school hours as part of a training program) to demonstrate satisfactory school attendance and academic progress (i) at the time a certificate is sought and (ii) at all times thereafter while the certificate is in effect. The Commissioner of Labor and Industry, in consultation with the Superintendent of Public Instruction, is directed by the bill to promulgate regulations establishing school attendance and academic standards for the work-training certificate program.
