SUMMARY:
Virginia Retirement System; Judicial Retirement System. Prohibits service as a judge, for judges appointed or elected to an original term beginning on or after July 1, 1996, from being multiplied by any weighted years of service factor. The bill retains the current provisions that years of creditable service for members (i) in service on December 31, 1994, shall be multiplied by a factor of 3 1/2 and (ii) appointed or elected to an original term that begins between January 1 and June 30, 1995, shall be multiplied by a factor of 2 1/2. Those weighted years of service factors were amended and reenacted by Chapters 821 and 899 of the 1994 Acts of Assembly.
