SUMMARY:

Virginia Retirement System; expanded definition of "normal retirement date." Expands the definition of "normal retirement date" from its current meaning of a member's sixty-fifth birthday to also include the date on which a member's age when added to his years of creditable service totals 85 or more (known as the "Rule of 85"). Localities are given the option to not participate in this program.
