HB 1134 Health professions; disciplinary actions.

Introduced by: Jay W. DeBoer | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Health professions; disciplinary actions. Requires appointment of a Board of Medicine committee if an investigative report finds probable cause for disciplinary action against a practitioner. Currently appointment of such a committee is at the Board president's discretion. At the conclusion of the informal conference, if the majority agrees that the information is without foundation or does not merit a formal Board hearing, the committee is required to enter written findings of fact. If reprimand, censure, probation or suspension is imposed by the committee and not appealed to the Board, the findings must be mailed by the Board to the complainant. In addition, whenever any suspension or revocation is final, the practitioner is required to (i) notify all current patients, (ii) cooperate with other practitioners to ensure continuity of care for patients, and (iii) notify any hospitals or other facilities where he is currently granted privileges and any health insurance administrators or health maintenance organizations that are currently reimbursing him for services.
