SUMMARY:

Money order sales and money transmission activities; licensee's proof of security. Grants the Virginia State Corporation Commission authority to permit money order and money transmitter license applicants to deposit with a financial institution cash or securities in lieu of furnishing a surety bond as currently required by law. Additionally, the bill establishes provisions whereby such security requirements may be reduced or canceled within five years of a licensee's cessation of money order sales operations within the Commonwealth.
