SUMMARY:

Accident and sickness insurance; any willing provider. Amends Virginia's "any willing provider" statutes governing preferred provider networks. The bill (i) eliminates the provision in current law that requires insurers and nonstock corporations to accept into their preferred provider networks any hospitals, physicians or selected other providers willing to meet the terms and conditions offered to them; (ii) requires insurers and nonstock corporations to make their terms and conditions (for provider participation) available to the public upon written request (except those which contain proprietary or confidential information); and (iii) provides (through elimination of the prohibition) the State Corporation Commission with jurisdiction to adjudicate controversies between network sponsors and providers (under subsection B of § 38.2-3407 and subsection C of § 38.2-4209).
