SUMMARY:

Housing; spot blight abatement. Authorizes Fairfax County and Fairfax City to (i) recover the cost of repair or disposal of blighted properties, (ii) place a lien on blighted properties repaired or acquired by the county or city to recover the cost of improvements made by the county to bring such property in compliance with applicable building codes or the cost of disposing of the property, and (iii) provide for temporary relocation of persons living in blighted property provided such relocation is within the financial means of the relocated persons. The bill also provides an exemption from the requirement that the county or city not approve an acquisition of blighted property if the property is occupied for personal residential use. This exemption would permit the acquisition if the property has been condemned for human habitation for more than one year.
