SUMMARY:
Public service companies; extension or reduction of telephone service. Amends provisions governing telephone company polling of telephone exchange subscribers to determine whether a majority of them favor expanding their local calling area to include a contiguous exchange. Under the bill, subscribers would be given 35 days from the date survey forms are mailed to them to return such forms. Upon completion of the poll, results are certified to the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Currently, the ballots must be counted and the results certified within 60 days after being mailed.
