1996 SESSION
WHEREAS, Ruritan is a national organization, founded in Virginia, dedicated to improving communities and building a better America through fellowship, goodwill, and community service; and
WHEREAS, Frank E. Guthrie, a member of the Hickory, Virginia, Ruritan Club with a 23-year record of perfect attendance, has for many years provided leadership at the local level and was in 1975 selected Outstanding Club President; and
WHEREAS, in 1980, Frank Guthrie served as Ruritan Holland District Governor, sharing his exceptional leadership ability with the clubs and communities throughout District One; and
WHEREAS, in 1995, Frank Guthrie served as Ruritan National President and was instrumental in establishing and implementing the Ruritan Long Range Plan, which will assure that Ruritan National will have sufficient resources to serve American communities into the next century; and
WHEREAS, throughout his exceptional service to Ruritan, Frank Guthrie has lived by the motto, "Working Together, We Can Make a Significant Difference," and through his wisdom, devotion, and leadership has by himself made a significant difference; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Frank E. Guthrie for his many years of dedicated and effective service to Ruritan and the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Frank E. Guthrie as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and appreciation for his invaluable service to Virginia's communities.
