WHEREAS, Sharon Alice Boggess Woodson, an employee of the General Assembly since the 1973 Session, retired as Committee Coordinator for the House of Delegates on September 1, 1995; and
WHEREAS, a native of West Virginia, Sharon Woodson moved to Richmond with her family in 1962 and completed her education in the Richmond public schools; and
WHEREAS, beginning with the 1973 Session of the General Assembly, Sharon Woodson worked as a computer operator until 1980, also frequently assisting at the information desk then located in the lobby of the 8th Street Office Building; and
WHEREAS, during the early 1980s, Sharon Woodson worked in the indexing and amendments and bill drafting sections of the Division of Legislative Automated Systems; and
WHEREAS, a tireless, helpful, and meticulous worker, Sharon Woodson has served the House of Delegates since 1984 as an Indexing Assistant, Assistant Indexing Clerk, Indexing Clerk, and Committee Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, for several sessions of the General Assembly, Sharon Woodson operated the computerized voting system in the House Chamber; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Woodson has also assisted in compiling the Cumulative Index for House and Senate legislation introduced at each session and in preparing the Index of the House Journal and the Acts of Assembly; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Woodson served under House Clerks Joseph H. Holleman, Jr., and Bruce F. Jamerson and under Speakers John Warren Cooke, A. L. Philpott, and Thomas W. Moss, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Woodson's versatility, over-all competence, and cheerful and compassionate demeanor will be sorely missed by her colleagues in the House Clerk's Office and by the many legislators she has so ably assisted over the years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sharon Alice Boggess Woodson be hereby commended for her many years of meritorious service to the House of Delegates and the General Assembly; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sharon Alice Boggess Woodson as an expression of the House of Delegates' gratitude and best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
