HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 62
Commending Sheriff Wilson C. Garrison.

WHEREAS, Wilson C. Garrison, Sheriff of Prince William County, retired on December 31, 1995, completing a 32-year career of service to the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, following five years of service as deputy with the Warrenton Sheriff's Office, Wilson Garrison joined the Prince William County Sheriff's Department on September 1, 1968; and

WHEREAS, in 1970, Wilson Garrison transferred to the Prince William County Police Department and was promoted to Investigator on October 1, 1972; and

WHEREAS, returning to the Sheriff's Department as Sheriff in 1984, Wilson Garrison served three terms as Sheriff of Prince William County; and

WHEREAS, throughout his nearly three decades of law-enforcement service to the citizens of Prince William County, Sheriff Garrison maintained the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Garrison served on the Regional Jail Board since 1990, including service as Chairman since 1992; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Garrison's exemplary devotion to the safety of the citizens of Prince William won him the abiding respect, admiration, and affection of the people he has so effectively served; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commends Sheriff Wilson C. Garrison on the completion of a distinguished law-enforcement career; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sheriff Wilson C. Garrison as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for his long and meritorious service to Prince William County and the Commonwealth.
