963453176WHEREAS, a section of Virginia Route 311, located 5.3 miles south of New Castle, Virginia, includes a dangerous curve which poses a severe threat to the health and welfare of the citizens of Craig County; and
WHEREAS, this dangerously curved portion of Virginia Route 311 does not appear to satisfy Virginia Department of Transportation safety guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the Craig County Board of Supervisors has endeavored for approximately twenty years to include the dangerous section of Virginia Route 311 located 5.3 miles south of New Castle, Virginia, on the Commonwealth Transportation Board's six-year improvement plan; and
WHEREAS, the improvement of this area of Virginia Route 311 is of utmost importance to the citizens and local government of Craig County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Commonwealth Transportation Board be encouraged to include that portion of Virginia Route 311 located 5.3 miles south of New Castle, Virginia in the Craig County six-year improvement plan; and be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates transmit a copy of this resolution to the Commonwealth Transportation Board so that it may be apprised of the sense of the Virginia General Assembly in this matter.
