Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 19.2-283 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 19.2-283. How accused may be convicted of felony.

No person shall be convicted of felony, unless by his confession of guilt in court, or by his plea, or by the verdict of a jury, accepted and recorded by the court, or by judgment of the court trying the case without a jury according to law. A defendant may plead guilty at any time before the court has accepted and recorded the jury's verdict; or, in a case tried without a jury, at any time before the court has pronounced its judgment.
