1996 SESSION
961563386Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 3.1 of Title 30 a section numbered 30-34.10:4 as follows:
§ 30-34.10:4. Electronic information distribution sites for General Assembly members.
The Commission, through the Division of Legislative Automated Systems, shall assist members of the General Assembly to establish access to electronic information distribution network sites for the purpose of carrying out their legislative responsibilities. The Division of Legislative Automated Systems may link with a network site which a member has independently acquired for these purposes. No network site so acquired or supported shall be used by the member for partisan or political campaign purposes. The cost of providing and maintaining such access shall be allocated from the general appropriation to the General Assembly and shall be apportioned to the House of Delegates and the Senate based on the number of members of each house that request network access. The Department of Information Technology shall provide assistance to the Division of Legislative Automated Systems in establishing and maintaining legislative network access if requested to do so by the Division.
