(SB571)GOVERNOR'S VETO EXPLANATION
Pursuant to § 6 of Article V of the Constitution of Virginia, I am vetoing Senate Bill 571.
The manner in which this requirement to regulate settlement agents was imposed upon the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation gave me little time to assess the appropriateness of this change.
I have, however, asked the Secretary of Commerce and Trade and the Acting Director of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation to fully participate in the proceedings of the joint subcommittee created pursuant to House Joint Resolution No. 210 so that the subcommittee can consider the appropriate level of regulation of settlement agents.
