SUMMARY:
Safe schools committees. Encourages school divisions and public schools to form safe schools committees to involve parents, community members, school officials, and students in developing, implementing, and promoting comprehensive school safety and violence prevention program initiatives. In addition, schools are requested to inform parents of the written code of student conduct and parents are encouraged to sign an acknowledgment that they understand the conduct code. Finally, the resolution requests the Superintendent of Public Instruction to provide a model statement for use by the schools in achieving this objective.
