SB 991 School-to-work transition programs.
Introduced by: Yvonne B. Miller | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
School-to-work transition programs. Authorizes local school boards to establish school-to-work transition programs for students enrolled in the public schools in grades five through twelve, to prepare students for college, employment, and advanced technical skills training. The programs will focus on preparation of the non-college bound student; however, college bound students shall be allowed to participate in the programs. Local school boards establishing these programs must establish interagency linkages with postsecondary institutions, labor and industry councils, the business community, and employment and guidance services to assist students in developing essential work habits and skills through a broad range of educational and career opportunities and mentoring and apprenticeship programs.
