SUMMARY:

Guardians ad litem. Allows the court to appoint, in its discretion, any discreet and competent attorney-at-law to be a guardian ad litem if an attorney on the list of those approved by the Judicial Council is not “reasonably available.” Under current law, the court may only appoint an attorney under these circumstances upon finding that the attorney meets the statutory criteria ( training, familiarity and demonstrated proficiency in the area).
