SUMMARY:

Accident and sickness insurance; ambulance services. Requires health insurers, HMOs and corporations providing accident and sickness subscription contracts to provide direct reimbursement to ambulance services providers. To obtain direct reimbursement, however, the ambulance service provider must present an assignment of benefits to the insurer, HMO or corporation. Ambulance services are defined by the bill as the transportation of individuals requiring resuscitation or emergency relief where human life is endangered via any ambulance, rescue or life-saving vehicle. The term is also defined to include the use of emergency medical services ambulances and mobile intensive care units.
