SUMMARY:

Blue crab fisheries management plan. Directs the Virginia Marine Resources Commission to develop and implement a fisheries management plan for the blue crab in Virginia waters. The plan is to be prepared in consultation with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, other educational institutions, industry and interest groups. The plan is to be designed to reverse any fishing practices, environmental stress and habitat deterioration negatively impacting the crab stock in Virginia waters. The Commission, as part of the management plan, is to make specific recommendations on statutory changes necessary for implementation.
