SUMMARY:
Sentence; costs of incarceration. Requires judges to state the reasons for the sentence imposed and the total costs of incarceration on the record and in the final order of conviction. The per diem rate used in determining the costs of incarceration is to be calculated by the same entities responsible for making the calculations for the prison impact of pending legislation pursuant to § 30-19.1:4. The Office of the Executive Secretary is to ensure distribution of the annually calculated rate and is to retain copies of all the final orders of conviction.
