SB 840 Adult care residences.

Introduced by: William C. Wampler, Jr. | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Adult care residences. Provides that public pay residents may choose an independent private physician to complete the uniform assessment instrument that must be completed for all residents upon admission and at certain intervals. The Code currently provides that a case manager and other appropriate persons will complete the uniform assessment instrument for public pay residents and that an independent private physician will complete it for private pay residents, unless the resident requests that a case manager do so. The bill changes a statutory provision that says that regulations promulgated by the State Board of Social Services “shall include standards for staffing” to say that regulations shall include “a requirement that the adult care residence provide adequate staff to meet the needs of the residents.” The bill also provides that adult care residences may provide care for residents with certain medical conditions by contracting with a health care professional or home care organization.
