SB 838 Local boards of social services.

SUMMARY:

Local boards of social services. Provides that the administrative board for a welfare district consisting of two or more counties and/or cities may be composed of the chief administrative officer of each political subdivision. The welfare district will be subject to an existing statutory requirement to have an advisory board composed of no less than five and no more than 13 members. Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg plan to use the provisions of this bill to consolidate their departments of social services.

This bill is identical to HB 1968.
