1995 SESSION
SB 778 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act.
Introduced by: Joseph V. Gartlan, Jr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Uniform Interstate Family Support Act. Makes several technical changes in the Act adopted in 1994. The term “register” is modified to allow for registration in the juvenile courts and with the Division of Child Support Enforcement, rather than in the circuit courts. Registration under UIFSA will now be substantially similar to the process under URESA. The bill also clarifies that foreign orders for support need not be filed as foreign judgments in recognition of the fact that most such orders are not for a sum certain and are therefore dissimilar from other foreign judgments.
