SB 773 Health ins. coverage for families of active or retired st. employ.
Introduced by: Walter A. Stosch | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Health insurance coverage for families of active or retired state employees. Allows the spouse and dependents of an active or retired state employee to continue participating in the health insurance coverage plan following the employee's death. In order to participate, the current or former state employee and the survivors seeking to continue the coverage must have been covered by the health insurance plan when the employee died. The surviving spouse or dependent is responsible for paying the premium for the health insurance coverage. The ability to participate in the plan ends upon the survivor's death, marriage, or purchase of health insurance under another plan. In addition, participation by a dependent ends upon his reaching age 21, or if a full-time college student at age 25 or until he ceases to be a full-time college student, whichever occurs first. A dependent with a disability may continue to participate in the health plan regardless of age until three months following the termination of the disability. The ability to participate in the plan is further subject to the Department of Personnel and Training's policies and procedures.
