SUMMARY:

Uniform Statewide Building Code; reinspection of buildings prior to utility reconnection. Authorizes the Board of Housing and Community Development to promulgate regulations, in accordance with the Administrative Process Act (§ 9-6.14:1 et seq.), requiring reinspection of any commercial or industrial structure before service can be restored to an electric utility installation from which electrical service had been discontinued or transferred for any reason other than nonpayment of service bills for a period of 30 days or more, including but not limited to changes in use or occupancy. Such inspections shall be conducted by the local building official to ensure compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. Upon reinspection and approval of any structure under this section, the local building official shall notify the utility service provider to reconnect service or, in the case of a change in occupancy or use, to transfer service.
