SUMMARY:
School health services. Requires local school boards to strive to employ, or contract with local health departments for, registered nurses as school nurses consistent with a ratio of at least one registered nurse per school division by July 1, 1995; at least one registered nurse per 2,000 students by July 1, 1996; at least one registered nurse per 1,500 students by July 1, 1997; and at least one registered nurse per 1,000 students by July 1, 1998. The Board of Education will be required to monitor the implementation of this provision and to report on how school health funds are used in each locality and provide a detailed analysis of school health expenditures to the relevant committees of the General Assembly.
