SB 1056 Stalking; notice required.

SUMMARY:
Stalking; notice required. Provides that the Department of Corrections, sheriff or regional jail director, upon written request, must give notice, prior to release or upon escape of an offender incarcerated for stalking, to the victim or any person designated by the victim. The victim has a duty to keep the Department of Corrections, sheriff or regional jail director apprised of the current address and telephone number of the person who is to receive the notice. The term “release” includes completion of the term of incarceration and probation or parole. All information related to those who receive or may receive notice is to be kept confidential.
Civil immunity is granted for the failure to give the notice.
