SUMMARY:
Goals 2000. Requests the Board of Education delay its application for the Commonwealth's participation in Goals 2000, the national education reform legislation based on the six education goals initially articulated by the President and the nation's Governors at the 1989 Education Summit in Charlottesville, until the passage of revised Standards of Learning for the public schools of the Commonwealth. The federal legislation, signed by President in March 1994, sets aside funding for the states for systemic school reform.
