SUMMARY:
Family life education program. Requests the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission to study the family life education program. After explaining the genesis of the family life education program, this resolution request JLARC to study it. The Commission is asked to review all aspects of the program, including effectiveness in addressing the problems of children and young people, costs, quality of implementation, number of children opted out, the validity of parental objections, and any results in terms of reduced teenage pregnancy rates, reduced suicide rates, or reduced incidence of sexually transmitted disease. In its consideration, the Commission is also requested to examine the family living components of the program, such as dispute resolution and promotion of parental and community involvement.
