HJ 578 Study; juvenile and domestic courts' transfer policy.
Introduced by: John J. Davies III | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Study; juvenile and domestic courts' transfer policy. Requests the Committee on District Courts to determine the need for and the procedures for a policy for the transfer of cases from one juvenile and domestic relations court to another. The Committee is requested to report its recommendations to the Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees on Courts of Justice. This resolution notes that juvenile and district courts have detailed subject matter and geographical jurisdictions. Further, although Virginia law sets out specifics for transfer of serious cases from the juvenile and domestic courts to the circuit courts, there is at present no clear or consistent policy for the transfer of juvenile and domestic court cases from one court to another.
