SUMMARY:

Study; state funding of public institutions. Requests the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia to study the funding of the Commonwealth's public institutions of higher education. SCHEV is to consider, among other things, current funding levels and practices for public institutions in the Commonwealth and in other states; the individual missions of these institutions; recent institutional restructuring plans; and other issues as it deems appropriate. SCHEV is to report its findings to the Governor and the General Assembly by September 1, 1995, and is to submit its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the 1996 Session of the General Assembly. Identical to SJR 323.
