HB 891 Building Code; reinspection of certain buildings.
Introduced by: Lionell Spruill, Sr. | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Uniform Statewide Building Code; reinspection of certain buildings. Requires the Board of Housing and Community Development to promulgate regulations requiring reinspection of any building before gas or electric utility service is restored. The bill provides that such reinspection applies only to buildings where such utility service has been discontinued or transferred for any reason other than nonpayment of service bills, but includes changes in the building's use or occupancy. The bill requires the reinspection to be conducted by the local building official to ensure compliance with the USBC. Upon reinspection and approval by the locality, notice shall be sent to the utility service provider to reconnect service, or in the case of a change in occupancy or use, to transfer service.
