1995 SESSION
HB 839 Accident and sickness insurance; preferred provider organizations.
Introduced by: Harvey B. Morgan | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Accident and sickness insurance; preferred provider organizations; pharmacists. Amends the provisions of Virginia's insurance laws governing preferred provider organizations (PPOs) established by health insurers and nonstock corporations providing health services plans. Currently, these provisions prohibit such insurers and nonstock corporations, when establishing PPOs, from discriminating unreasonably against or among such health care providers. They further provide that no hospital, physician or type of provider listed in § 38.2-3408 or § 38.2-4221 willing to meet the terms and conditions offered to it or him shall be excluded from a PPO. The bill adds pharmacists to the class of health care providers subject to the provisions and protections of these statutes.
