SUMMARY:
Expedited possession of unlawfully detained rental property. Shortens from 21 to 14 days the period allowed under the Residential Landlord and Tenant Act during which a tenant may correct a material noncompliance with his rental agreement and shortens from 30 days to 21 days the period the landlord must wait before termination of a rental agreement for material noncompliance by the tenant. The bill also provides that trial on a summons for unlawful detainer must be held within 10 days of the return date on the summons. The bill also provides that appeal from a district court to a circuit court on an unlawful detainer shall be taken within seven days instead of the current 10 days.
