1995 SESSION
HB 555 General Assembly; privilege from arrest.
Introduced by: W. Roscoe Reynolds | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
General Assembly; privilege from arrest. Revises the statute which implements a portion of Section 9 of Article IV of the Constitution on legislators' immunities. The effect of the revision is to mirror the constitutional language more closely and thereby (i) eliminate the statutory provision which gives legislators an additional period of immunity from arrest for criminal charges during the five days before and after a session and (ii) incorporate the constitutional provision for immunity from arrest under civil process during the 15 days before and after a session.
