HB 391 Management of ungranted shores of the sea, marsh, and meadowlands.
Introduced by: Robert S. Bloxom | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Management of ungranted shores of the sea, marsh, and meadowland. Consolidates responsibility for management of state-owned coastal lands in the Virginia Marine Resources Commission. Currently, jurisdiction over state-owned coastal lands overlaps the VMRC, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the Department of General Services, and the Department of Environmental Quality. The state-owned shores of the sea, marsh and meadowlands will be managed by the VMRC in accordance with a management plan balancing the traditional uses of the properties, tourism and commerce, and ecological protection. An advisory council is created to advise the VMRC on issues relating to the management of these lands.
