SUMMARY:
Criminal procedure; forensic cases. Requires the committing court or special justice to provide certain background information on forensic patients transferred to the care of the Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services for evaluation and treatment. The bill allows the Commissioner to receive the preliminary evaluation information and other background information about the crime for which the person is currently committed to the criminal justice system. The Commissioner is granted access to CCRE data on accused and convicted persons committed to his custody. The bill also corrects outdated cross-references.
