SUMMARY:

Virginia Retirement System; prior service credit for certain military service. Provides that any vested member of VRS who is in service on and after the effective date of the bill shall receive prior service credit for up to three years of military service at no cost to the member if the discharge was not dishonorable and the member has not withdrawn his accumulated contributions. Prior service credit for more than three years of military service may be purchased by the member pursuant to § 51.1-143.
