SUMMARY:
Firearms. Makes the furnishing of handguns or assault firearms to persons under the age of 21 punishable as a Class 6 felony. Currently, that penalty only applies to furnishing a handgun to a person under the age of 18. Also, the possession or transportation of such weapons by persons under the age of 21 constitutes a Class 1 misdemeanor. Again, this penalty currently applies only to persons under the age of 18. Existing exceptions continue to apply.
