SUMMARY:
Obstruction of justice. Increases the penalties for the various violations constituting obstruction of justice and adds a new obstruction offense. The new offense is based upon a Nevada statute and provides that using threats or intimidation to prevent a victim or witness from reporting a crime, commencing a criminal prosecution or causing another's arrest is punishable as a Class 6 felony.
This bill is recommended by the Joint Subcommittee Studying Witness and Juror Protection.
