1995 SESSION
HB 2322 Omnibus child support enforcement.
Introduced by: John A. Rollison III | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Omnibus child support enforcement. Makes several changes intended to enhance support enforcement efforts. The authority is specified for the Division of Child Support Enforcement to obtain copies of state and federal tax returns of persons suspected of being delinquent in their support obligations. A procedure is established to deny initial issuance or renewal of a driver's license or vehicle registration to any person who is delinquent in the payment of a support obligation by at least 90 days or for $5,000 or more.
Interest will accrue on support arrearage for the benefit of the obligee, unless waived by the obligee, and will be calculated on a monthly basis. Under current law, interest accrues only upon request of the obligee. All payments made will be applied first to satisfy the accrued arrearage and, once the arrearage is completely satisfied, to accrued interest.
