SUMMARY:
Fraud. Makes it unlawful for any person with the intent to defraud to obtain or attempt to obtain any property, service, benefit, money or other thing of value (i) by the use of a false or fraudulent statement or representation; (ii) by falsifying or concealing by any trick, scheme or device a material fact; or (iii) by making or using a false writing or document. A violation involving more than $200 is punishable by imprisonment of one to 20 years or by up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500. If the value involved is less than $200, the offender is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
