SUMMARY:
In-state tuition for military personnel and their dependents. Permits individual institutions of higher education to charge in-state tuition to members of the armed forces residing in Virginia pursuant to military orders and claiming residency in another state, and their dependents. These individuals would be counted as out-of-state students for admissions, enrollment and tuition and fee revenue policy purposes.
Under current law, spouses and dependents of military personnel must meet various residency, income tax, and employment requirements to be eligible for in-state tuition; military personnel are not currently granted in-state tuition.
