SUMMARY:
Assault and battery. Adds “sexual preference” and “gender” to the categories of victims, the selection of whom for a “hate crime” involving assault or trespass amplifies the Class 1 misdemeanor penalty to include a six-month minimum, mandatory sentence, 30 days of which cannot be suspended. The bill also adds the two categories to terroristic act reporting requirements of the State Police.
