SUMMARY:
Certificates of public need; moratorium on nursing facilities. Provides an exception to the moratorium on construction of nursing homes for a facility in Montgomery County which proposes to build an additional 60 beds, and which has entered into a partnership with several public institutions of higher education to establish a gerontology center for the conduct of research and the education of professionals.
The bill also provides an exception for: a nonprofit nursing facility in Henrico County that is designed to provide care for Alzheimer's patients and related disorders, a nursing facility project located in the Town of Colonial Beach, and a nursing facility in Ashland, Virginia.
